It was after our first major snowfall of the year, late on a Friday night - a call came in. "A dog may be chained in an abandoned house." The temperature outside? 9°F. On our way we went. The snow helped us track pawprints around abandoned buildings until we found him, a male dog dragging a chain leash (which is why the caller thought he might be chained up). With him was a female companion with a vaginal prolapse, requiring immediate medical attention. Donna couldn't feel her fingers after just a few moments, and our friend Officer Ottengheime met her on site. They were able to secure both dogs in under 10 minutes and get them in the warm Jeep. They were both pink from being cold for so long! We don't know how long they were out there, fending for themselves. They snored with their eyes open as we gently pet them and told them they were safe now. We named them Fannar and Eira, Welsh for "Snow" and "Snowdrift."

This dog was roaming and a bunch of calls came in. But AS USUAL, he was too smart for his own good and just would not go in our trap. First, we used our go-to, Vienna Sausages. He was able to get them all out without tripping the trap. That doesn't happen very often. THEN we went to Subway and grabbed some lunch meat. This time, he walked in the trap and (purposely?) strettttttched forward over the plate so he wouldn't trip it! What the? SO THEN!! We went to Lee's chicken and buried it under the bars of the trap. This time, he couldn't refuse the smell and had to work harder to get the pieces out - finally tripping it. We had him safe and sound after a LONG day of patience. In between food reloads (ha!) he sprawled out next to the trap, taunting us with a sploot - just as comfortable as could be without a care in the world. When we finally got this big block-headed boy, we named him Frog Dog! And he is so awesome. Just a big, handsome lazy lug ready to rock your world.
